Painting Practice

A bunch of my friends are taking Digital Painting from Sam Nielson and I am mad jealous; not necessarily because I love torturing myself over one painting for 20 hours or so, but because I feel I have an atrociously weak sense of value and color and that has to stop. I ended up having some extra time today because the 3D labs were being used, so I decided to spend it by painting something quick and experimental.

This is the same character from the one-panel assignment: Noah, a Romani guy who suffers from terrible luck and an unfortunate fate (but turns it around in a very odd way). I made his face longer because I wanted it to contrast the Chinese girl's face more, but there's still something I really like about the face of his previous design... Maybe it's just because his expression's pretty bland here, though. I'll do some more experiments later.

Is it just me or is something wrong with his eyes? Like, they don't look like they're socketed properly. I dunno, is anyone else seeing this?

Multipanel Comic for Storyboarding

Another assignment for Kelly's storyboarding class! I don't like this one as much as the previous assignment, but I tried to push my limits a bit more, like actually thinking about the background, and avoiding drawing half-dead people.
